Captain Ty Britt is a Native of Brandon, Mississippi. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, and earned a Master of Science degree in Applied Physics from the Naval Post Graduate School in 1998.
His sea tours include Auxiliaries Officer, Main Propulsion Assistant and Navigator in USS Port Royal (CG 73); Operations Officer in USS Barry (DDG 52); Operations Officer in USS Vella Gulf (CG 72); and Future Operations Officer on the staff of Commander, Carrier Strike Group 12.
Ashore, he served as Flag Aide for Commander, Naval Surface Force Atlantic; Deputy Executive Assistant for Command, Navy Personnel Command / Deputy Chief of Naval Personnel; Executive Officer, Surface Warfare Officers School Command; Director-Commander’s Action Group for Commander, Naval Surface Force Atlantic; and Deputy Commander, Coastal Riverine Group TWO.
Captain Britt’s command tours include Commanding Officer of MCM Crew Swerve embarked in USS Sentry (MCM 3) and USS Defender (MCM 2) in Ingleside, Texas, and USS Dextrous (MCM 13) forward deployed in Bahrain; and Commanding Officer, Riverine Squadron 2. Additionally, he has completed two deployments in Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. Most recently, he assumed the duties of Commander, Coastal Riverine Group TWO on 03 November 2017.
His personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, and a variety of unit and campaign awards.
