Command Master Chief

 

   Command Master Chief Stephen “Steve” Lupton was born in Georgetown, Guyana and is a native of Bayboro, North Carolina. After graduating from Pamlico County High School, he enlisted in the Navy in April 1990, and attended boot camp at the RTC in Great Lakes, IL. He reported to Fighter Squadron 213 (VF-213) out of Miramar, CA after completing Aviation Storekeeper (AK) ‘A’ School in Meridian, MS., where he completed two WESTPAC deployments on the USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN-72) and was promoted to Aviation Storekeeper Third Class.

 

   In April 1994, Master Chief Lupton entered the Training and Administration of Reservist (TAR) program and reported to NAF Washington D.C. Base Supply and was promoted to Aviation Storekeeper Second Class.

 

In January 1996, Master Chief Lupton reported to Mobile Maintenance Facility ‘H’ at NAS New Orleans, LA where he served as the Leading Petty Officer (LPO) for the Ground Support Equipment division.

 

   In January 1998, Master Chief Lupton reported to Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Seven Five (HS-75) out of NAS Jacksonville, FL where he served as the Material Control LPO. He was promoted to Aviation Storekeeper First Class and obtained his Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist qualification.

 

   In September 2002, Master Chief Lupton reported to the USS DOYLE (FFG-39) out of NS Mayport, FL and served as the Supply Department LPO. Leading the way for the AK and SK merger, he was one of the first AKs to be stationed on a Guided Missile Frigate. He was selected as the ship's Sailor of the Year and Destroyer Squadron 14's Sailor of the Year for 2003, achieved the rank of Storekeeper Chief in 2004, and earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist qualification.

 

   In October 2004, Master Chief Lupton reported to Naval Coastal Warfare Squadron Two Six (NCWRON 26) out of NAS Jacksonville, FL where he served at the Leading Chief Petty Officer for the Maintenance and Repair and Supply Departments for 6 subordinate units.  

 

   In December 2006, Master Chief Lupton reported for duty at Navy Personnel Command in Millington, TN as the Full Time Support Logistics Specialist and Culinary Specialist Detailer in PERS-4012. He was promoted to Senior Chief and was selected for the Command Senior Chief program.

 

   In May 2010, Master Chief Lupton reported as the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge at Bagram Air Field Humanitarian Assistance Yard providing support and management of the Commander’s Emergency Response Program (CERP) for North and East Afghanistan.

 

   In February 2011, Master Chief Lupton reported to USS KLAKRING FFG-42 out of NS Mayport, FL and served as the Command Senior Chief. KLAKRING was the first ship in the Navy to complete the Basic Phase in the prescribed 20 weeks, was awarded the 2011 Battle “E” Award, and completed an AFRICOM Deployment. He was promoted to Command Master Chief in 2012.

 

   In February 2013, Master Chief Lupton reported to HSC-84 Red Wolves as Command Master Chief and was awarded the 2013 Battle “E” Award.

 

In November 2014, Master Chief Lupton reported to Coastal Riverine Group Two where he currently serves as the Command Master Chief.

 

   Master Chief Lupton’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (five awards), the Navy Achievement Medal (five awards) and numerous campaign and unit awards. He has earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Social Science with a concentration in Military Studies from Troy University. He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 151 Brown Group.
