Master Chief Lawrence W. Sharpe
Seabee Combat Warfare (SCW)
Command Master Chief, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion FIVE

Command Master Chief Sharpe is a native of Yale, Mich. and joined the Navy in September, 1987. He is a Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist and has Associates Degree in Construction Technologies.

Upon completion of basic training and Builder "A" School in Gulfport, Miss., he was assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 74, also in Gulfport. While there he deployed to Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico; Okinawa, Japan; and to support Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield.

In 1991, he transferred to Naval Special Warfare Development Group, where he was assigned as SEAL support and made several deployments in support of the command.

In 1994 he transferred from the active duty Navy to the Naval Reserve Force and was assigned to NMCB 26 in Clemens, Mich. There, he was promoted to Chief Petty Officer. In his civilian career he was a self-employed carpenter and excavating contractor, building residential homes in the Detroit metropolitan area.

In February of 2001, he transferred to 2nd Naval Construction Brigade in Little Creek, Va. as the reserve operations chief and he returned to active duty.

In November of 2001, he transferred to NMCB 40 where his duties included operations chief for Detail Camp Pendleton, battalion quality control chief, battalion safety chief, and officer-in-charge of Detail Diego Garcia.

In September 2004, he transferred to Naval Construction Training Center Port Hueneme, Calif. as the Builder School Director and Alfa Company commander. In September 2007, he transferred to NMCB 5 in Port Hueneme, California where he served as assistant officer-in-charge of Detail San Clemente and battalion operations chief. In January of 2009, he transferred to NMCB 4, also in Port Hueneme., where he served as battalion operations chief.

Prior to being assigned as the Command Master Chief for NMCB 5 September 2013, he served as Naval Construction Training Center, Port Hueneme, Command Master Chief.
