NMCBs are more commonly known as "SEABEES", and are the premier engineering components for the United States military today. Even though SEABEEs are low in numbers, they are highly requested to perform work around the world. SEABEEs deploy to provide: base construction and upgrades, war damage repairs, humanitarian aid and disaster recovery assistance.
NMCB 26 is one of 12 Reserve Battalions in the First Naval Construction Division (1NCD), reporting to the Commander of the SEVENTH Naval Construction Regiment (7NCR). 26 is committed to having a Battalion trained and ready for deployment to support the United States armed forces.
SEABEEs along with building and pouring concrete, repair and pave roads, drill water wells, string electrical lines and build bridges. They can also defend the area they are working in if it is away from their base camp and convoy their equipment and supplies to the job site in hostile areas. NMCB 26 prepares its members for mobilization readiness with annual two week Active Training (AT) in both tactical and technical skills.
SEABEEs are the most willing group to help others and the very best of them are in NMCB 26.
