Afloat Safety
Congratulations! You are now the safety officer for the ship, but have you completed the required training? You can find the prerequisites and classes on the Navy Safety & Environmental Training Center web pages. Along with that training, follow this PQS document for more guidance. Also you have responsibilities under OPNAVINST 5100.19 series [Navy Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Program Manual for Forces Afloat].
To set up your Safety Binder to document and organize your inspections click here (under the section labeled NAVOSH ADMIN Organization).
Many of the afloat resources can be found on INSURV's web page.
