The Department of Defense (DoD) adopted NFIRS for reporting all Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) incidents (emergency and non-emergency) on January 1, 2002. The state designation “DD” for DoD is recognized within NFIRS and has been established with the United States Fire Administration (USFA) for data repository. The USFA in partnership with the National Fire Information Council (NFIC) developed the system. DoD F&ES departments are required to report all incidents responses in accordance with DoDI 6055.06. The Fire Data Collection and Analysis staff publishes an annual report; generates monthly statistical reports, generates special statistical reports; research and perform special studies, data analysis and provides technical assistance and training to DoD F&ES.
NFIRS Data Submittals: Fire agencies are encouraged to report to the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) on a monthly basis.
