Aircraft Mishap Historical Information
Depending on the information desired, if you are a DoN employee and require aircraft mishap information solely for DoN safety purposes then you can first contact either the specific aircraft analyst or the Aviation Data Division at the Naval Safety Center.
If not a DoN employee and desiring information for other than DoN safety purposes:
For mishaps 1976 to present: For FOIA requests follow directions at this NSC link http://www.safetycenter.navy.mil/foia/default.htm (on-line FOIA forms are linked).
For mishaps 1975 and earlier: The NSC had archived mishap records from 1975 and earlier with the Naval Historical Center, Naval Aviation History Branch in Washington, D.C. Those desiring mishap related records MUST make your request by mail, providing as much detail as you know about the mishap aircraft, crew, date and location. Write to:
