"Welcome to the U.S. Navy Individual Augmentee website! As the Executive Agent for the Navy Individual Augmentee program, I want you to know that we take very seriously our commitment to make the IA experience a positive one for our Sailors who take on that challenge. You may be deploying outside the familiar Navy lifelines, but you always remain a Sailor first and we are dedicated to keeping the lines of communication open with you, your family, and your Navy command throughout this process. I welcome your feedback on how we can improve and look forward to hearing from you about your IA experience."
---ADM William E. Gortney,
Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command
U.S. Fleet Forces Command (USFF) recently established the Navy IA Hall of Honor webpage to recognize and honor Navy men and women who performed above and beyond the call of duty while on IA assignments supporting overseas contingency operations. The Navy IA Hall of Honor webpage recognizes IA Sailors who received awards for both combat service and meritorious service. Since October 2001, one IA Sailor has received the Silver Star, the military's fourth highest award. The Bronze Star has been awarded to 1,416 IA Sailors, the Bronze Star with Combat V device to 10 IA Sailors and the Purple Heart to 48 IA Sailors.
The Hall of Honor also includes a special tribute in its "In Memoriam" section to IA Sailors who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country during overseas contingency operations.
In contrast to a Sailor that deploys with a ship, squadron or unit, a Sailor who leaves their assigned unit or command to deploy individually or with a small group is known as an Individual Augmentee (IA). Half of the deployed IAs are active duty and half are reservists. Most IAs are concentrated in the 20-nation U.S. Central Command region, which includes Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Bahrain. Many are also serving in the 53-nation U.S. Africa Command, particularly in the Horn of Africa area. The rest are serving elsewhere in the world.
The U.S. Navy IA Sailor, Family, Command, and Employer website is designed to connect you, your family, your command and your employer to mobilization information.
This website will identify resources that will guide you through areas to provide support to the IA Sailor, Family, Command, and Employer throughout the IA Continuum (Pre-deployment, Man, Train, and Equip, Boots on Ground, and Re-deployment (de-mobilization) phases).
In addition, this website connects you to the IA Facebook and Twitter pages, where you can ask questions and share knowledge with other IAs and IA families.
The IA Continuum involves four stages:
- Pre-deployment - Administrative/medical processing and online training
- Man/Train/Equip - NMPS, Basic Combat Skills conducted at an Army base
- Boots on Ground - Performing OCONUS Mission
- Redeployment/Demobilization - Returning home and transitioning back to parent command or NOSC
This website will help guide you through each of these phases. Your feedback will play a critical role in keeping the content of this website up-to-date and relevant.
