Welcome to the DAMAGE CONTROL Portal. INSURV performs, on average, thirty to fifty material inspections, surveys and new construction trials every calendar year on every ship class in our Navy. This DAMAGE CONTROL portal will provide you with many useful tools to help you maintain your equipment to existing Navy standards, self-assess your material readiness level and develop a Schedule of Events (SOE) that sets you up for success at your INSURV. Here you will find links to all of the DC Afloat Self Assessment (ASA) check sheets. These are the single-most critical piece in ensuring the operational readiness of your equipment for INSURV. The check sheets made available below are exactly what we will follow to conduct your INSURV. Download them, understand them, and practice them regularly with senior leadership. No other tool will help you more to do well with your inspection.
Below you will also find a section containing DAMAGE CONTROL’s best practices identified by INSURV inspectors, with decades of experience. Be familiar with these best practices and avoid the mistakes that ships have made in the past.
Please be sure to download the DAMAGE CONTROL plan of action, as it contains our recommended SOE breakdown for each day for your material inspection or trial. Use this to develop your own DC SOE and de-conflict events.
You can expect an official pre-brief a few months prior to your inspection, but I encourage you to contact us early and often with your questions utilizing the links provided below. Ships that establish a regular dialogue with INSURV tend to do better with their inspections. Good luck with your INSURV preparations and we look forward to visiting your ship in the near future.
