
Captain Dawn Richardson
CAPT Richardson graduated from Purdue University in 1983 with a BS in Restaurant, Hotel and Institutional Management. After a year of working as an Assistant Restaurant and Room Service Manager in a franchised Marriott, she spent five years with the Magic Pan Restaurants working her way up to the General Manager position.
She attended OCS in Newport, RI April through July of 1989. CAPT Richardson’s division officer tour was served aboard USS SIMON LAKE (AS 33) in ROVSS/SUBSAT, her department head tour aboard USS TORTUGA (LSD 46), and her Commander Sea Duty aboard USNS AMELIA EARHART (T-AKE 6).
Her first tour out of the BQC was as Food Service and Billeting Officer in Diego Garcia, BIOT during Operation Desert Shield/Storm. Her next shore tour was as a NACO at NAVSEA in Crystal City getting a fairly thorough contracting indoctrination.
At NPS in Monterey she earned a MS in Transportation Logistics Management. This was followed by several tours utilizing this expertise: Fleet Transportation Officer at Fleet Forces Command, Joint Mobility Officer at USTRANSCOM including an IA to CENTCOM DDOC in Kuwait, and ACOS for Logistics at COMLOGWESTPAC.
CAPT Richardson served as XO at FISC Sigonella expanding her global expertise. She currently works at INSURV inspecting supply and habitability spaces and equipment onboard naval platforms around the world.
Personal awards include Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (two gold stars), Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (two gold stars), and a Navy Achievement Medal. She is a Certified Professional Logistician (CPL).
