MAGTF Planners Basic

PURPOSE
To provide formal training to entry level and lateral move Marines in the skills and responsibilities required of MOS 0511, MAGTF Planning Specialist.
SCOPE
This course provides Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) Planning Specialist training in responsibilities and functional support duties in the areas of Force Deployment Planning and Execution (FDP&E).

Primary duties are:

  • Operating force deployment planning systems
  • Updating plan and unit information for force deployments
  • Properly formatting and releasing electronic newsgroup message traffic
  • Refining force deployment data
  • Force deployment/redeployment and execution procedures.
The MAGTF Planning Specialist will develop basic knowledge of the various force deployment planning systems and force planning requirements.
PREREQUISITES
Entry level students must possess a GT score of 110 or higher, must be eligible for a top-secret security clearance, and must be a U.S. citizen. For lateral move into the 0511 OccFld, an interview and recommendation by an installation's senior MAGTF Planner is required in addition to the above listed requirements. Lateral move Marines must contact EWTGLANT MAGTF Planner Basic Course Staff prior to report date for additional information.

LATMOVE Marines must come with their activated government charge card or a pay advance.

SECURITY CLEARANCE
SECRET clearance is mandatory

Security clearance verification can be forwarded to the EWTGLANT Security Manager via FAX using command letterhead or OPNAV Form 5521/27 at DSN: 253-7252 or COMM: 757-462-7252, or via message addressed to EWTGLANT NORFOLK VA/NOOX/.

Security clearance verification must contain the following information: full name; rank, grade, or rate; date and place of birth; social security number; citizenship of proposed student; name and address of the activity to be visited; date and duration of the proposed visit; security clearance of proposed visitor, investigation type, date of investigation; and phone number and verifying signature of the Security Manager (if Faxed).
