CAPT Brian Connon, Superintendent

Capt. Brian D. Connon, a native of St. Marys, W.V., graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1990. Upon commissioning, he initially served as a Surface Warfare Officer and transferred to Naval Oceanography in 1994.

At sea, Capt. Connon is a plank owner of USS Hue City (CG-66), where he served as Fire Control Assistant and Gunnery Officer. As an oceanographer, he served as hydrographer and Officer in Charge, Fleet Survey Team, Naval Oceanographic Office; and Oceanographer and Director, Tomahawk Land Attack Missile Strike Cell on the staff of Commander, Carrier Group 5, deploying onboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) to the Arabian Gulf for Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Shore tours include: Equipment Support Officer at the Naval Pacific Meteorology and Oceanography Center West/Joint Typhoon Warning Center Guam; Oceanography Assignment/Placement Officer and Assistant Community Manager at the Naval Personnel Command; Commanding Officer of Fleet Survey Team; Director, Oceanography Operations for Expeditionary Warfare at the Naval Oceanography Operations Command; Assistant Chief of Oceanography Command; and Deputy Navigator, Deputy Oceanographer, and Executive Assistant to the Oceanographer/Navigator of the Navy (OPNAV N2N6E).
