Command Master Chief
Master Chief Rawlinson, a native of High Point, North Carolina, joined the United States Navy on December 8, 1992. After completing basic and follow-on seaman apprenticeship training at RTC Orlando, Florida, he reported for duty onboard USS SHREVEPORT (LPD-12) in Deck division. Later he served on USS PAUL HAMILTON (DDG-60) as a Disbursing Clerk and was a plankowner.
After his short stint as a disbursing clerk, Master Chief Rawlinson decided to cross rate to CTR via the score program, and attended CTR “A” school at NTTC Corry Station, Pensacola Florida. Upon completion, he then reported to NSGA Yokosuka, Japan, where he was assigned as an analyst in the Signals Analysis Lab, and later was promoted to Second Class Petty Officer. After completing a two-year stay in Yokosuka, he reported onboard NSGA Rota, Spain to serve as a Submarine Direct Support Operator. During this tour, he completed four deployments and earned the coveted Subsurface designator.
Following this rigorous direct support tour, Master Chief Rawlinson reported onboard NSGA Bahrain in 2001 as Surface Division Leading Petty Officer and Direct Support Coordinator. He coordinated Cryptologic direct support elements to various strike groups while also deploying to three coalition combatants and subsurface vessels. Just before the end of his tour in Bahrain, he was selected as the command’s Senior Sailor of the Year for 2002.
In 2003, Master Chief Rawlinson reported back to Corry Station to serve as an Intermediate Communications Signal Analysis Course Instructor and Team Chief. Here is where he was selected to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Deciding to short tour to go back to sea, in 2005 he took orders to USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN-76) in San Diego, CA as Ship’s Signal Exploitation Space (SSES) LCPO and Assistant Cryptologic Resource Coordinator (ACRC). He led strike group cryptologic efforts during the ship’s maiden deployment and two subsequent deployments. During this tour he was selected to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer.
After completing 4 years onboard RONALD REAGAN, he attended the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 143, Blue). In February 2009, he then reported to Center for Information Dominance Learning Site Jacksonville Florida, serving as Chief Petty Officer in Charge, providing cryptologic training to waterfront units based at Naval Station Mayport Florida. Here he was selected to the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer in May 2011.
Currently, Master Chief Rawlinson serves as the Command Master Chief at Navy Information Operations Command Yokosuka Japan.
His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy Achievement Medal (six awards), Good Conduct (six awards), and various campaign, unit and service awards.
