Lieutenant Commander Jason Parish is a native of North Platte, Nebraska. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on an NROTC scholarship and graduated with a degree in Environmental Engineering in 1997. Following graduation, he was commissioned as a Surface Warfare Officer Candidate.
Lieutenant Commander Parish began his career in Newport, Rhode Island where he attended Surface Warfare Officer School (Division Officer). Following graduation he was stationed in Mayport, Florida aboard USS TAYLOR (FFG 50) where he served as the Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer (ASWO). He earned his Surface Warfare Officer Pin and moved on to his next assignment aboard USS VICKSBURG (CG 69) where he served as the ship’s Navigator.
In June, 2001 he reported to NTTCD Monterey, California where he served as the Associate Dean / Executive Officer of Faculty and Staff Development. During this tour, LCDR Parish laterally transferred into the Information Professional Community.
In January, 2003 he reported to the Naval Postgraduate School where he earned a Master’s Degree in Space Systems Operations and completed Joint Professional Military Education (Phase I) through the Naval War College, College of Command and Staff.
In September, 2004 LCDR Parish reported to the National Reconnaissance Office in Chantilly, Virginia where he first served as a Resource Operations Coordinator then as the Deputy Chief of Operations and Engineering.
In May 2008, following six more months of Surface Warfare Officer School (Department Head) in Newport Rhode Island, LCDR Parish reported to Littoral Combat Ship Squadron One (LCSRON 1) in San Diego, California where he served as Distance Support Department Head.
In May 2009, he reported to PCU INDEPENDENCE in Mobile, Alabama as part of the commissioning crew. In January 2010, USS INDEPENDENCE (LCS 2) was commissioned and LCDR Parish began his tour as Combat Systems Officer.
In June 2011, LCDR Parish reported to NIOC Sugar Grove and assumed duties as Executive Officer.
