(June 4, 2012) – Cryptologic Technician (Collection) 1st Class(IDW) Matthew Smith and Cryptologic Technician (Collection) 2nd Class Wittney Puleo render salutes after laying memorial wreaths in honor of the Battle of Midway 70th anniversary at Navy Information Operations Command, Sugar Grove, W.Va.

In addition to the wreath-laying ceremony, personnel also attended a special Battle of Midway presentation, highlighting the circumstances and strategy leading up to the pivotal conflict. The presentation noted the invaluable work done by Navy cryptanalysts, which led to the thwarting of a Japanese trap in the Pacific.

CDR Doug Schelb, NIOC Sugar Grove commanding officer, led the attendees in a cake-cutting ceremony, where Sailors were invited to enjoy a viewing of the 1976 film, Midway
