Dear NIOC Misawa Spouses,
I wanted to introduce myself and provide some background information as well as an overview of what you can expect from me going forward.
My name is Katie Jagger and I am the Ombudsman for Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC) Misawa. An Ombudsman is a volunteer (typically a spouse) that is designated by a command to serve as a link between the command and families by assisting the command in providing information to families regarding resources, Navy and Command policies, and activities of interest to family members.
While I have been a Navy spouse for nine years, I have been a Navy family member for 33, as my father retired after 30 years of service. Prior to having my son and becoming a stay-at-home mom I was a teacher and special educator. I have a passion for working with children and their families and look forward to bringing my skills to NIOC Misawa.
I would like to make your experience at Misawa Air Base and NIOC Misawa a positive one. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions or would like information regarding services and programs available to you. The more information we are all equipped with, the more confident and self-sufficient we can be as Navy spouses!
Per the Ombudsman manual, any communication between spouses and the command (facilitated by me) is strictly confidential. So, please do not hesitate to contact me if you need assistance. Additionally, I will not use your contact information for anything other than Ombudsman business.
I can be reached via the following channels:
Home phone: 616-8067 (Local), 011-81-176-66-8067 (From the U.S.)
Cell phone: 090-1709-3808 (Local Only)
Please try to keep phone calls to the hours 0800-2000 if possible. Finally, if you use Facebook, please request to join the NIOC Misawa Spouses group as it is the quickest way to get up-to-date information related to command and base-related events.
I look forward to speaking with you soon!
