Reporting Aboard

Navy Information Command Maryland is a tenant of the Fort Meade Garrison, which is located midway between Baltimore, Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Annapolis. The command is under the area coordination of Commandant, Naval District Washington (NDW). The NIOC MD quarterdeck number is 301-677-0217 The base operator's number is 301-677-6261 or DSN 312-622-6261.

Military Personnel

Checking-In and Sponsorship

All NIOC MD personnel will be accompanied by their sponsor during check-in. Uniform of the Day is required when checking-in. Contact the sponsorship coordinator at  301-677-0827.

Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC)

The Fleet and Family Support Center is committed to supporting Navy and Marine Corps personnel and their families. We offer a wide range of services and programs geared toward developing skills to help individuals and families be more self -reliant and adjust to the challenges of military life. Call the FFSC at 301-677-9017 or visit us in building 830 Chisholm Ave. Hours of operation are Mon. - Fri. 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Guest Housing

The Guest House operates in a hotel concept with cable television, private bath, refrigerator and microwave. Reservations are accepted 30 days in advance. Abrams Hall does not accept pets. For reservations or more information, call 301-677-5660 or DSN 312-622-5660.

The Coast Guard has a guesthouse within commuting distance of Ft. Meade. For information, call 410-636-4194 or Fax 410-636-7496.

School Registration

Parents are urged to register their children for school as soon as possible after they move into the school's attendance area. Ft. Meade schools are Anne Arundel County Public Schools. If your child is currently receiving Special Education Services, please obtain a copy of your child's IEP (Individualized Education Plan) prior to transfer. For more information about transferring with a child with special education needs, contact the Exceptional Family Member Program Coordinator at 301-677-9017/9018. The telephone number for Anne Arundel County Board of Education is 410-222- 5000.

Child Development Centers

The central registration office is located at 1900 Reece Rd. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Mon.- Fri. Sponsors must present proper identification, child's birth certificate, child's social security number, and an up-to-date shot record at time of registration. Hourly care is also available. On-post Housing

Family quarters are authorized for military personnel in all pay grades for those who are on assignment orders for duty at Ft. Meade/NSA. Waiting lists are maintained according to bedroom requirements, the date of departure from your last duty station, and accrued priority credits for duty in restricted non-dependent areas. Waiting lists can be long, but often move quickly. It is suggested you call for information as soon as you receive orders. When you arrive and place your name on the waiting list, it will be effective on the date that you left your last command. When quarters become available only one unit will be offered. If the unit is declined, the sponsor will be placed at the bottom of the waiting list.  For more information, please contact the relocation office at (410) 305-1258 or email. Navy Bachelor Quarters

The Navy's Bachelor Quarters office is open for check-in Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. After hours, weekends and holidays, check in with the Quarterdeck at 301-677-0217 for assignment to a temporary room. Member must check in at the BQ Front Desk the next business day.  

All unaccompanied E4 and below personnel will be assigned a room in the BQ. BAH is not authorized.
E5 and E6 personnel are required to live off post. Personnel must submit a request chit to draw allowances and entitlements to live off post.
E7 and above are required to live off post.
The air conditioned BQ is centrally located with laundry facilities, TV lounges, day room, fully equipped kitchen, vending area, TV lounge and Internet kiosks.

Complete with two stoves, refrigerator, microwave, deep sink and cooking utensils, the kitchenette contains all the amenities of a luxurious household kitchen.

Residents now have the opportunity to utilize the café, 24 hours a day and seven days a week to cook, socialize and study.

 Lending Closet

Temporary loan of household goods

Army Community Services, located in Building 3189 on corner of Ernie Pyle and MacArthur Streets, maintains a Lending Closet for PCS'ing service members and their families. On hand items include:

Loaner Kit - includes pots, dishes, silverware, etc.
Appliance Kit - includes coffee maker, iron, toaster
Folding tables and chairs
High chairs; play pens
Infant car seats; and
Futons

These items may be borrowed for a period of 30 days. Extensions are granted on a case-by-case basis. ID cards and a copy of your PCS orders are required. 301-677-6948
