 COMMAND MASTER CHIEF QUINTON CARSON

UNITED STATES NAVY

Master Chief Carson was born and raised in Oakland, California, a where he graduated from Eastmont Christian Academy in 1982.  He enlisted in the Navy in November 1985 and reported to Recruit Training Command San Diego for Basic Training.  He attended Electronics Technician “A” School in Great Lakes, Illinois, followed by several Cryptologic Maintenance “C” schools at Mare Island in Vallejo, California.

In July 1987, he reported to NAVCOMTELSTA Diego Garcia in the British Indian Ocean Territory as crypto technician and eventually moved to the transmitter site as a Shore Base Radio Transmitter technician.  In 1990, he transferred to NCTAMS PAC in Wahiawa, Hawaii, where he was the Lead Transmitter Supervisor for 29 civilians at the Lualualei High and Very Low Frequency Transmitter facility.  In May 1993, he reported to his first sea tour aboard USS Curtis Wilbur DDG-54, where he was a plankowner of the newly commissioned Areleigh Burke Class guided missile destroyer. 

In September 1996, he reported to Navy Recruiting District San Francisco where obtained the status of “Recruiter of the Year” and was elevated to the position of Recruiter in Charge of the Vallejo Navy Recruiting Station.  In November 2000, he was assigned to USS John C. Stennis as the 3M Coordinator where he qualified as Engineering Chief of the Watch and became the Damage Control Team Lead Trainer.  In November 2006 he transferred to Fleet Information Warfare Center Detachment San Diego (now NIOC San Diego) as the Electronics Division Leading Chief Petty Officer. 

He graduated the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy in February 2007 and reported to the USS Boxer LHD-4 as the Combat Systems Department Leading Chief Petty Officer.  His current assignment is Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station, San Diego where he serves as the Command Master Chief.

His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corp Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal (eight awards),  Navy Good Conduct Medal (six awards), and various campaign and unit awards.  He is also qualified as an Enlisted Information Dominance, Enlisted Surface and Aviation Warfare Specialist.  In 2008, he was certified as an Afloat Training Specialist.   In August 2012, he received his MBA from San Diego State University.
