Senior Enlisted Leader
Master Chief Sermeno was born in El Paso, Texas. He graduated from Onate High School in 1999 and entered the United States Navy in June of that same year. He completed recruit basic training at Recruit Training Center Great Lakes, Illinois followed by Basic Radioman “A” School. His first assignment was USS ESSEX (LHD-2) at San Diego, California where he participated in the Navy’s first Large Deck hull swap to USS BELLEAU WOOD (LHA-3). During his tour onboard USS BELLEAU WOOD he qualified as Enlisted Surface Warfare, Enlisted Aviation Warfare and Communications Watch Officer. In February 2005, he reported to NCTAMS EURCENT at Naples, Italy where he participated in the decommissioning to NCTS Naples. During his tour at NCTS Naples he qualified as FTOC Watch Officer. In March of 2008, he reported to USS MAKIN ISLAND (LHD-8) where he was part of the pre-commissioning crew. During his tour onboard USS MAKIN ISLAND he assisted in establishing and qualified in Enlisted Information Dominance Warfare Program, Combat Systems Training Teams and deployed on the maiden voyage 2009 and MAKIN ISLAND’s first deployment. It was onboard USS MAKIN ISLAND where he was selected to Chief Petty Officer. In December 2012, he reported onboard USS BLUE RIDGE, during his tour he qualified as Damage Control Training Team, Anti-Terrorism Training Team and managed the 3M program. Master Chief Sermeno assumed the duties as the Senior Enlisted Leader to OIC NCTAMS LANT det Jacksonville in Feb 2016. His personal awards include: Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, Good Conduct Medals and various unit and campaign awards. He is authorized to wear the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (SW), Enlisted Information Dominance Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist (AW).
