Lieutenant Commander Stephanie Smith

Executive Officer

 

Lieutenant Commander Stephanie A. Smith enlisted in the Navy June 1993.  After six years as a Hospital Corpsman, she was selected for the BOOST program transitioning to a midshipman at NROTC University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA.  LCDR Smith earned a Bachelor of Science in Bioscience/Biotechnology from Drexel University and was commissioned in June 2002.   

 Following Surface Warfare Officer School and Communication Officer School, she was ordered to the guided missile cruiser USS Gettysburg (CG 64) as the Communications Officer/EKMS Manager where she made a Persian Gulf deployment and achieved her Officer of the Deck (OOD) and Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) qualifications.  Lieutenant Commander Smith then reported to USS McInerney (FFG 8) as the Training Officer where she was selected for lateral transfer to the Information Professional Community (1820).

 In March 2006, LCDR Smith reported to PCU Freedom as the Electronics Material Officer, where she spent several years overseeing the production of the Navy’s newest ship, USS Freedom (LCS 1).  After Freedom’s commissioning on November 8, 2008, LCDR Smith continued to shape the Littoral Combat Ship Program until her transfer to Fleet Weather Center San Diego in March 2010 as the Deputy N6. There she earned her Information Dominance Warfare qualification. From December 2012 to July 2014, LCDR Smith began her O4 operational milestone tour as the Operations Officer at Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station, San Diego leading the command in the management, operations and security of tactical communications and internet protocol services to shore and fleet customers in C3F, CNRSW and CNRNW.  During this time she also completed her Master of Science in Cyber Security/Information Assurance. 

 Lieutenant Commander Smith’s military decorations include: Navy Commendation Medals, Navy Achievement Medals and various theater, sea, and service medals.
