Commander Turner enlisted in the U.S. Navy in December 1983 and was initiated and promoted to Radioman Chief Petty Officer in September 1995.

 
In June, 1999 he was commissioned as a Surface Communications Limited Duty Officer (6192) and completed his first officer assignment aboard USS CARR (FFG 52) from July 1999 through July 2002 as Electronics Material Officer.  While there, he was designated as a Surface Warfare Officer.
 
In July 2002, he transferred to USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71) where he served as Communications Maintenance Officer and ships Weapons Coordinator.  In July 2004, he reported aboard Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Atlantic where he served as a Joint Fleet Telecommunications Operations Center Watch Officer and Fleet Operations Officer.  In September 2006, he departed and reported aboard USS KITTY HAWK (CV 63) where he served as Communications Officer, Combat Information Systems Officer and Tactical Action’s Officer.  In October 2008, he reported to Commander, Naval Network Warfare Command staff supporting C5I installations.  In November 2009, he reported to EXPEDITIONARY STRIKE GROUP FIVE staff in Manama, Bahrain where he served as Assistant Chief of Staff - N6.  In November 2010, he reported to Commander, Navy Cyber Forces staff where he served as Deputy Carrier Modernization Officer.  In September 2011, he reported to USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN 75) where he served as Combat Systems Information Officer.  In September 2013, he reported to Commander, Navy Information Dominance Forces staff where served as the Director for cybersecurity training and assistance support to the Fleet.  In October 2015, he reported back to USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN 75) where he served as Combat Systems Officer.  Recently, June 2017, Commander Turner has reported aboard Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Bahrain where he is currently serving as the Executive Officer.
 
Commander Turner’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal, Good Conduct medal, and various other unit awards.
