Commander Salevski, a native of Greenfield, Wisconsin, graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Following graduation, he was commissioned as a Submarine Officer and attended Nuclear Power School in Charleston, South Carolina.
Following the 13 month training pipeline, he reported to USS TOPEKA (SSN 754) in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He completed one Western Pacific deployment, qualified as Engineering Officer of the Watch, Officer of the Deck, Engineering Officer and Submarine Warfare Officer.
In 2002, he reported to the Naval Education and Training Command in Pensacola, Florida as the Submarine Program Training Manager. He spent one year helping to stand up the newly formed Naval Personnel Development Command in Norfolk, Virginia as the Training Instructional Integration Officer.
Commander Salevski completed a lateral transfer to the Information Professional Community in 2004 and was assigned as the N3 Division Officer at Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station EURCENT in Naples, Italy. During this time, he accepted an Individual Augmentee assignment to Task Force 134, Camp Victory, Baghdad, Iraq for 7 months where he served as the Assistant J6 Officer. Before departure from the newly designated Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station, Naples, Italy, he earned his IP Basic and Intermediate qualifications.
In 2006, he reported to Amphibious Squadron SIX attached to USS NASSAU (LHA 4) in Norfolk, Virginia as the N6. He completed one deployment and led the communications planning of two PHOENIX EXPRESS exercises.
In 2009, he reported to the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), Monterey, California, to earn his Masters of Science degree in Computer Science. He qualified as Information Dominance Warfare Officer; completed Joint Professional Military Education Phase 1; completed the IP Junior Officer’s Course; awarded the NPS Toastmaster of the Year 2010; and earned the Rear Admiral Grace Hopper Computer Science award for the Spring of 2011 graduating class.
In 2011, he reported to the USS MAKIN ISLAND (LHD 8) in San Diego, California as the Combat Systems Information Officer (CISO) for his O-4 Milestone Billet. He completed the maiden deployment in the C5F and C7F AORs where he qualified as Command Duty Officer, CIC Watch Officer and Air Defense Watch Officer.
In 2013, he reported to United States Pacific Command (USPACOM) in Camp H M Smith, Hawaii and served as the Chief of the Multinational C4 Interoperability Branch where he led the Multinational Communications Interoperability Program, Multinational Information Services, and conducted the yearly PACIFIC ENDEAVOR exercise.
In 2016, he reported to the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Bahrain and is currently serving as the Executive Officer.
Commander Salevski’s military decorations include a Joint Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (4 awards), and various other campaign and service medals.
