John Mark Bray

LCDR Bray enlisted from Oneonta, New York in May, 1982.  He served 16 years in enlisted service and rose to the rank of Data Systems Technician Chief Petty Officer (DSC).  LCDR Bray was commissioned an Information Professional, 6420, in 1999 through the Limited Duty Officer Program and converted to the Information Professional, 1820, community in 2010.

In August 1999, LCDR Bray reported to the USS PELELIU (LHA-5) as ADP Officer and served that billet and Assistant Communications Officer until 2002.  During his tour on PELEIU he was involved in the support of forces in East Timor and the initial military movement into Afghanistan in the early portions of OEF.

In 2002, he reported to COMTHIRDFLT and served as Networks Officer until 2004.  While assigned to COMTHIRDFLT he was responsible for transitioning the staff networking services from the USS CORONADO to the newly established shore facility.

He then reported to Naval Special Warfare, GROUP ONE, in Coronado, CA as N6A.  He was actively involved in providing communications support to deploying SEAL Squadrons in all theaters of operations.

In 2005, he reported to Special Operations Command, PACIFIC, (SOCPAC) and served as a Communications Systems Planner.  While at SOCPAC he directly supported Joint Special Operations Task Force, PACIFIC and various other missions in the Pacific theater.

In July 2007 he was assigned as Combat Systems Information Systems Officer (CISO) on USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN-74).  During his tour on STENNIS he completed a deployment in support of Middle Eastern missions and one WESTPAC deployment in support of COMSEVENTHFLT training and operations.

LCDR Bray reported to USS MOUNT WHITNEY (LCC-20) in October 2009 as the Communications and Information Systems Officer (CISO).

His most recent assignment is as the Officer in Charge of NCTAMS PAC Det Puget Sound.

LCDR Bray is married to his wonderful wife of 10 years and has six children.  His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (six awards) and the Navy Achievement Medal (four awards).
