A native of Edmonds, Washington, Senior Chief David McArthur enlisted in the United States Navy in August of 1998.
In September of 1999, after graduating Electronics Technician “A” School in Great Lakes, IL he received his first set of orders to the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington, attending TPX-42 Direct Altitude Identity Readout “C” School in route. During his two-year tour, he served six months after September 11th as Auxiliary Security Forces supporting two months of FPCON DELTA in the aftermath of the twin tower’s falling.
In March of 2002, after completing WSN-7 Ring Laser Gyro Navigator “C” School in Damn Neck, VA he reported to the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) homeported in Everett, Washington. While stationed there, Senior Chief McArthur gained both his Surface and Air Warfare pins and was a part of a two CENTCOM deployments supporting Operation Iraqi Liberation and Operation Enduring Freedom.
In June of 2005, upon completion of Enlisted Recruiter Orientation in Pensacola, Florida he reported to Navy Recruiting District Seattle, Washington. During his tenure he worked in four recruiting stations in the Northwest Zone maintaining a PPR of 1.7, obtaining multiple personal and station awards during his tenure.
In July of 2008, Senior Chief McArthur reported to Pre-Commissioning Unit Makin Island, DET San Diego where he was the Leading Petty Officer for Communications Division. During his tenure he oversaw the training and outfitting of thirteen Sailors ensuring critical qualifications were in place prior to the ship’s light-off assessment.
After commissioning in October of 2009, Senior Chief McArthur oversaw multiple installations and upgrades of USS Makin Island (LHD-8) communications systems as well as the repair of over 300 trial cards. He was selected to conduct a department wide overhaul and review of all Combat Systems Operating Sequencing Systems which led to a complete review of the ship’s installed systems on order to properly account for Makin Island’s unique configuration.
In August of 2011, Senior Chief McArthur reported to Support Activity ONE, which was later renamed to Special Reconnaissance Team ONE as the Technical Surveillance Operations Department Leading Chief Petty Officer. During his tenure at SRT, He deployed as a Technical Surveillance Operator with Cross Functional Troops CHARLIE, BRAVO and ALFA.
In October of 2016 Senior Chief McArthur reported to Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station (NCTS) as the Command’s 3M Coordinator.
In July of 2017, Senior Chief McArthur assumed the duties of Command Senior Chief Petty Officer of NCTS Sicily, Italy.
