Command Senior Enlisted Leader, U.S. TENTH Fleet

CTRCM(IDW/SW) James D. Eaton was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. He enlisted on 21 August, 1988 and attended boot camp at Recruit Training Command Orlando, FL. He attended Cryptologic Technician (Collection) 'A' school in Fort Devens, MA and High Frequency Direction Finding (HFDF) School in Pensacola, FL. From 1991 to 1994, he served as an HFDF operator at NSGA Adak, AK, NSGA Pyong Taek, Korea, and back to NSGA Adak, AK. He later worked as a station manager at HFDF Net Control Station Wahiawa, HI from 1994 to 1997.

From 1997 to 2000, he served as an OUTBOARD cryptologic LPO and operator aboard USS CALIFORNIA (CGN 36) at Bremerton, WA and USS FIFE (DD 991) at Everett, WA. He deployed to the Caribbean and Arabian Gulf. He qualified Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist.

In 2000, he transferred to Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, TX as a Chief Petty Officer and led the Navy's Analysis and Reporting School (NEC 9138) as a course manager, curriculum developer, and instructor. He qualified Master Training Specialist

He rotated back to sea aboard USS PRINCETON (CG 59) at San Diego, CA in 2003 and was selected as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2004. He was a Division and Department LCPO. He deployed to the Arabian Gulf and qualified Afloat Master Training Specialist.

He graduated the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 129/Khaki) in 2007 and reported to NIOC Misawa, Japan. He served as NIOC Command Master Chief and Joint Senior Enlisted Leader for the Operation's Directorate. He deployed in 2009 as the NCR-Iraq SEL CSG-Iraq NCOIC. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology/Information Systems Security.

From 2010 to 2012, he served at NIOC Texas as a Department LCPO for counter-narcotics and National Tactical Integrated personnel and the Command Master Chief. He earned the Enlisted Information Dominance Warfare Specialist and inducted as an "On the Roof Gang" member.

In 2012, he reported to Fleet Cyber Command/10th Fleet as the Staff Senior Enlisted Leader. He earned a Masters of Information Security.

Master Chief Eaton's personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (two), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three) and various other personal, unit, and campaign awards.

He also plays Gibson and BC Rich guitars.
