Full Title THRIFT SAVINGS PLAN AND FINANCIAL RETIREMENT PLANNING
Description The purpose of this course is to provide information on the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) and general financial planning to allow for long range retirement planning. Topics will include an explanation of how the Thrift Savings Plan works and the variety of options available to employees and retirees, as well as how your investments in different funds relate to the financial market. Additionally, financial planning strategies will be discussed based on individual retirement readiness profiles. Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

(1) describe the investment characteristics of the different TSP funds
(2) identify the TSP withdrawal options including the advantages and disadvantages of each option
(3) recognize the spousal entitlements and beneficiary process
(4) describe the impact of outstanding loans and in-service withdrawals
(5) describe the increased flexibility offered by income tax laws
(6) explain how the TSP is managed and how it is affected by stock indexes
(7) consider the relationship between your financial “personality,” retirement investments and retirement goals
Eligibility Recommended for all employees enrolled in the Federal Thrift Savings Plan program.

After the nomination deadline, no-shows will be obligated for the cost of the course and will be charged by the vendor. Substitutions will be accepted.
Cancellation Cancellations must reach and be confirmed by an HRSC, SW Code 30 representative no later than close of business on the nomination deadline date. Failure to comply will obligate the activity for payment.
