Full Title PRE-RETIREMENT PLANNING (FERS)
Description The purpose of this course is to provide Federal employees who are enrolled in the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) with concrete information they need as they consider their retirement. Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

(1) identify key elements of the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS)
(2) perform basic retirement income computation
(3) describe the impact of Social Security and Medicare
(4) identify the various financial, tax, legal and estate issues that affect benefits
(5) describe how the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) works and when TSP withdrawals are permitted
(6) identify retired military issues that affect annuities
(7) apply the laws that affect survivor elections, leave/health benefits and life insurance
(8) define relocation issues that may impact retirement

Eligibility Recommended for Department of Navy civilian employees enrolled in the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) who are within ten (10) years of retirement.

METHOD OF PAYMENT: Upon completion of training, the HRSC-SW Training Office will provide to the vendor each activity's SF 182(s) under a letter of transmittal, which contains billing information. Vendors will process SF 182(s) for payment based on the information provided.

Block 19 include name of activity, POC, telephone and fax number and e-mail address.

In Section C – Block 6 indicate “Payment by Government Commercial Purchase Card (GCPC)”and include Cardholder’s name, address, telephone number, Card Number, and Expiration Date. After the nomination deadline, no-shows will be obligated for the cost of the course and will be charged by the vendor. Substitutions will be accepted.
Cancellation Cancellations must reach and be confirmed by an HRSC, SW Code 30 representative no later than close of business on the nomination deadline date. Failure to comply will obligate the activity for payment.
