 ASPIRING LEADER PROGRAM

Participants in this program receive a foundational knowledge and understanding of core leadership skills and competencies. This program meets one-week a month for two months.

Target Audience: GS 4, 5, 6, or equivalent

Program Duration: 2 weeks

Tuition: $2,175

Eligibility:

  • Minimum of 2 years of Federal service
  • Demonstrated flexibility in work habits
  • Ability to work in an unstructured environment
  • Ability to initiate work independently with minimum supervision, direction, or assistance
  • Interest in legislative procedures, practices, and techniques

Learning Activities:

  • Management readings and reviews
  • Management interviews
  • Shadowing assignment with a Federal manager
  • Learning team activities and presentations

How to Apply: The nomination package must be endorsed through the chain-of-command. Upon chain-of-command approval, Command Training Representatives will forward endorsed nomination packages to the USDA Graduate School.
