Description
|
This one-day course is designed for FERS employees with a minimum of five years of federal service and who are at least 10 years from retirement eligibility. The course will cover the key elements of the Federal employees Retirement System (FERS); the difference between Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) and FERS; how to compute basic FERS retirement income; tax issues affecting FERS benefits; Social Security and Medicare; Thrift Savings Plan (TSP); pending legislation that may affect FERS benefits; survivor benefits; leave; health benefits and life insurance. |

Eligibility
|
FERS employees typically with a minimum of five years of federal service or who are at least 10 years from retirement eligibility.
Spouses are welcome to attend at no additional cost but
with advance notice. The couple will share the handout
material.

ENROLLMENT: Fax an approved SF 182 Training Request with a cover sheet to the HRSC East Training Registrar at (757) 396-7977 or (757) 396-7978, DSN 386.
PAYMENT PROCEDURES: All HRSC East sponsored courses will be paid for by government purchase card. The purchase card holder's name, telephone number, and fax number must be entered on all SF-182s, Section B, Block #19 or the SF-182 will be returned.

ACTIVITIES ARE OBLIGATED AND RESPONSIBLE FOR TUITION PAYMENT FOR ENROLLMENT CANCELLATIONS SUBMITTED AFTER THE CLOSE OF BUSINESS ON THE ENROLLMENT DEADLINE AND FOR ENROLLED STUDENTS WHO FAIL TO REPORT FOR THE CLASS.
Substitutions after the nomination deadline are acceptable if the student meets the eligibility criteria. |
