THIS COUNCIL IS COMPRISED OF SENIOR LEADERS WHO WILL WORK TOGETHER ON THE ISSUES OF RACE, COLOR, RELIGION, SEX, AGE AND DISABILITY THAT IMPACT OUR WORKFORCE.
THE MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL WILL DISCUSS RECOMMENDATIONS THAT ADDRESS THESE ISSUES AS WELL AS HIGHLIGHT POSSIBLE METHODS OF IMPLEMENTATION. THEY WILL ALSO ORGANIZE EXECUTIVE DEVELOPMENT SEMINARS DESIGNED TO EDUCATE AND COUNSEL POTENTIAL LEADERSHIP CANDIDATES. THE COUNCIL WILL PRODUCE AN ANNUAL LIST OF “LESSONS LEARNED” FROM THEIR EXPERIENCES IN THE INITIATIVE AND WILL RELAY THESE LESSONS TO THE UNDERSECRETARY OF THE NAVY.
THE DIVERSITY LEADERSHIP COUNCIL FILLS TWO CRUCIAL ROLES: FIRST, IT IS AN ADVISORY BODY THAT COMMUNICATES TO THE UNDERSECRETARY THE CONCERNS – AND SUCCESSES – OF THE DON WORKFORCE. SECOND, THE COUNCIL IS A RESOURCE FOR THE ASPIRING LEADERS AMONG US.
