 CREDITING UNUSED SICK LEAVE TOWARD RETIREMENT ANNUITY COMPUTATION

The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2010 changed regulations to allow FERS employees to add unused sick leave to the number of years and months of service for annuity computation purposes. Employees who retire on or before December 31, 2013, will receive credit for 50 percent of unused sick leave. Employees who retire after December 31, 2013, will receive credit for 100 percent of unused sick leave.
