If health insurance premiums are withheld on an after-tax basis (you have waived participation in FEHB Premium Conversion), you may cancel your enrollment at any time. If health insurance premiums are withheld on a before-tax basis (you participate in FEHB Premium Conversion), you may cancel your enrollment only during the Benefits Open Season or in conjunction with a qualifying life event.

If you cancel your enrollment, you can reenroll during the Benefits Open Season or in conjunction with a qualifying life event that permits enrollment.

1. If you want to cancel your health insurance enrollment, you must make an election in the Employee Benefits Information System (EBIS) or by contacting the Benefits Line.
2. The cancellation will be effective the last day of the pay period in which your election to cancel health insurance is processed.
3. You should review the biweekly Leave and Earnings Statement you receive from your payroll office to ensure health insurance deductions have stopped. Refer to the Effective Date Chart to determine when your health insurance election should be reflected in your pay check.
