ARGENTINE NAVY

Lieutenant Commander Gustavo Enrique SAGRERAS was born in Buenos Aires, ARGENTINA.

In 1993, he joined the Naval Academy, receiving his commission as Midshipman to the Command Corp Officer on October 1997.

In 1998, he was assigned to Patrol Boat A.R.A. “CLORINDA”, as Executive Officer. On April of the same year was invited by the Uruguayan Navy to sail on the tall ship VELERO ESCUELA CAPITÁN MIRANDA. In 1999, begun his instruction as Surface Officer as Administration Officer on board Destroyer A.R.A. “LA ARGENTINA”.

In 2000, he was promoted to Ensign and selected to attend the Communications Specialty Course at the Officers Naval School. In 2001 and 2002 was commissioned to the Icebreaker A.R.A. “ALMIRANTE IRIZAR” fulfilling functions as Administration Officer.

From 2003 and until 2004 he was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade and designated as Assistant’s Officer of First Year Cadets at the Naval Academy. In 2005 he was selected as a Communications Officer to the Destroyer A.R.A. “ALMIRANTE BROWN”, home place at Puerto Belgrano Naval Base.

In 2006 he was promoted to Lieutenant, and commissioned to the Officer’s Course at the Air Force Electronic Warfare. In 2007 he was designated to attend to the Surface Officers Course earning a Bachelor Degree on Naval Systems. In 2008 and 2009 he fulfilled tasks as Combat Systems Officer on board the Destroyer A.R.A. “LA ARGENTINA”. In 2009, he completed the Argentinean Navy Electronic Warfare Course. During 2010 he was Operations Officer and Department Head on Destroyer A.R.A. “LA ARGENTINA”. By August 2010 he was designated to fulfill functions at the United Nations Mission in Cyprus (UNFICYP) as Information’s Officer of the Argentine Quota for a period of 6 months. On April 2011 he was designated again as Recruitment Division Officer to the Naval Military.

On 31th December 2011 he was promoted to Lieutenant Commander.

Also he participated as Staff Officer on the following Multinational and Bilateral Exercises:

  • UNITAS XL, XLVI and LI
  • FRATERNO XIX and XXIV
  • OPERACIÓN CRUZ DEL SUR (2002)
