The Department of Defense (DoD) adopted NFIRS for reporting all Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) incidents (emergency and non-emergency) on January 1, 2002.  The state designation “DD” for DoD is recognized within NFIRS and has been established with the United States Fire Administration (USFA) for data repository.  The USFA in partnership with the National Fire Information Council (NFIC) developed the system.  DoD F&ES departments are required to report all incidents responses in accordance with DoDI 6055.06.  The report shall be completed in accordance with the current version of the NFIRS Complete Reference Guide.
