The Navy is auditioning!
The Navy Music Program includes 11 active duty fleet bands and two preferentially-staffed bands, all featuring professional musicians from around our nation. Each band operates within its own geographic area of responsibility, representing the U.S. Navy around the world as Navy Musicians (MU).
We are seeking qualified musicians for placement in the Navy Music Program. After a successful entrance audition into the program (played live), you will be guaranteed placement into the School of Music (MU "A" school).** Upon completion of MU "A" school, you will be assigned to one of our 11 Navy fleet bands. Visit the Navy Musician Facebook page to see what you could be doing as a Navy Musician, or see our Frequently Asked Questions for detailed enlistment information.
** Currently the Navy Music Program is under manning constraints and successful applicants are placed on a waiting list for entry into the Navy. However, applicants are still welcome to get an audition on file.
There are no doubling requirements!
Entrance auditions to the Navy Music Program are scheduled as we are contacted by applicants, and conducted at any Navy Band. Note: Auditions for positions in our two preferentially-staffed bands are held only as vacancies occur. Check their respective websites for more information about their current vacancies: U.S. Navy Band, Naval Academy Band.
The Navy Music Program is composed of traditional band instrumentation, vocalist/entertainers, and rhythm players (electric bass, guitar, piano, and percussion).
