Building a Resilient Navy

What is Operational Stress Control?

The Operational Stress Control (OSC) program is a part of OPNAV N171, the Navy Suicide Prevention Branch. OSC is the foundation of Navy stress related efforts because it facilitates understanding of operational and personal stress, promotes awareness of available resources and provides practical mitigation tools. OSC is a shared responsibility between Sailors, command leaders, and families.

The Operational Stress Control Program maintains a robust strategic communications effort to promote comprehensive wellness and stress navigation throughout the Fleet. Every Sailor, Every Day is OPNAV N171's FY15 integrated communications campaign encouraging all Sailors, leaders, families and members of the Navy community to strengthen their connections with those around them. The campaign focuses on peer support, individual responsibility, open communication and bystander intervention as ongoing contributors to resilience and protective factors during adversity. For the latest Every Sailor, Every Day resources, click here.

Fact sheets, brochures, posters, humor cards, magnets and other OSC products are available for ordering through Naval Logisitics Library free of charge to commands (order form below).
