IN OCT 01 THE HUMAN RESOURCES (HR) COMMUNITY WAS CREATED TO MEET THE GROWING DEMANDS FOR SPECIALIZED SKILLS IN HUMAN RESOURCE STRATEGY AND ANALYSIS. HR OFFICERS WILL SERVE AS THE NAVY'S EXPERTS IN DEVELOPING, SHAPING AND ALIGNING THE FUTURE FORCES TO MEET MISSION REQUIREMENTS, TRANSFORMING THE RECRUITING AND MILITARY DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS, ACHIEVING A TECHNOLOGY-BASED HUMAN RESOURCE SYSTEM AND FULLY ALIGNING THE MILITARY MANPOWER AND PERSONNEL STRATEGY INTO AN EFFECTIVE NAVY HUMAN RESOURCES STRATEGY. SINCE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE HUMAN RESOURCES COMMUNITY ANNOUNCED IN REF A, THERE HAS BEEN SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS IN: A. DEVELOPING A CONTINUOUS EDUCATION PLAN AND MODIFYING EXISTING CURRICULUM AT NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE NEW COMMUNITY AND THE NAVY. B. DEVELOPING AN OFFICER CAREER PATH THAT GROWS HR PROFESSIONALS BY INCORPORATING CAREER MILESTONES IMPORTANT TO PERSONNEL READINESS AND TRAINING. C. ESTABLISHING A PROCESS FOR BOTH CURRENT AND FUTURE HR OFFICERS TO COMPLETE THE NATIONAL HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT CERTIFICATION EXAM AND RECEIVE THE SAME CERTIFICATION AS THEIR COUNTERPARTS IN THE CIVILIAN COMMUNITY. 3. CNO (N1) WILL HOST THE FIRST HUMAN RESOURCES COMMUNITY CONFERENCE 20 - 21 FEB 02. VADM TRACEY (DNS), VADM RYAN (N1), RADM HENRY (N13), AND RADM MCGANN (SENIOR HR ADVISOR) WILL MEET WITH HR CAPTAINS AND COMMANDERS TO DISCUSS INITIATIVES IN THE HR COMMUNITY AND IMPORTANT HR TRENDS IN THE MARKETPLACE AND IN THE NAVY. 4.
