IN THE COMING WEEKS, WE WILL BE REALIGNING PRD'S FOR OUR FIRST-TERM SAILORS TO EQUAL THEIR EAOS'S, AS EXTENDED FOR THOSE PERSONNEL WITH AN EAOS AFTER AUGUST 2001. THIS WILL PROVIDE NAVY LEADERSHIP AND OUR SAILORS WITH A MEANINGFUL DATE ON WHICH TO CENTER CAREER DECISION MAKING. CONSOLIDATING THESE DATES WILL HELP FOCUS OUR RETENTION EFFORTS, EMPHASIZING THE FOLLOWING CAREER OPTIONS (SOME OPTIONS CAN BE USED TOGETHER): A. REENLIST AND REMAIN ON BOARD CURRENT COMMAND AS A VALUED MEMBER OF A PROFESSIONAL NAVY TEAM UNTIL COMPLETION OF PRESCRIBED SEA TOUR (PST). B. EXERCISE GUARD 2000 REENLISTMENT OPTION TO SELECT THE GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION OF NEXT DUTY ASSIGNMENT AND/OR WAIVE A PORTION OF PST. C. OBLISERV TWO YEARS AND RECEIVE A TRADITIONAL NO-COST SPLIT TOUR OR OUR NEW FUNDED SPLIT TOUR PROGRAM (LIMITED QUOTAS) AT EAOS. NOTE: FUNDED SPLIT SEA TOURS WILL BE APPROVED IN LIEU OF A GUARD 2000 REENLISTMENT. D. REENLIST FOR A GUARANTEED SCHOOL AFTER COMPLETION OF PST. E. CONVERT TO A RATING IN AN EQUAL OR HIGHER CREO GROUP UNDER THE SCORE PROGRAM AT EAOS. F. REENLIST FOR GUARANTEED SCHOOL AND ADVANCEMENT UPON COMPLETION OF PST UNDER THE STAR PROGRAM. G. RECEIVE A CASH SELECTIVE REENLISTMENT BONUS FOR REENLISTING FOR FOUR TO SIX YEARS AT EAOS. 2. ESTABLISHING FIRST-TERM PRD EQUAL TO EAOS WILL NOT REDUCE THE LENGTH OF PST. SAILORS WILL REMAIN AT THEIR SEA DUTY COMMANDS UNTIL PST'S ARE REACHED, UNLESS THEY REQUEST AND ARE GRANTED SPLIT TOURS AT SEA OR GUARD 2000 WAIVERS OF PORTIONS OF THEIR PST. 3. THE ADJUSTMENT OF PRD TO EQUAL EAOS FOR FIRST-TERM SAILORS IS THE LATEST STEP IN OUR CONTINUING FOCUS ON RETENTION. OVER THE NEXT 12 MONTHS, THE PROGRAM WILL UNDERGO PHASED IMPLEMENTATION, AND ALL FIRST-TERM PRD'S WILL BE SYSTEMATICALLY ADJUSTED TO MINIMIZE IMPACT ON BOTH SAILORS AND COMMANDS. THIS WILL ALLOW SAILORS TO RETAIN THE STANDARD THREE MONTHS TO NEGOTIATE ORDERS.
