Production Management Office (PMO)
PMO began operations in December 2006 with initial focus on managing the Navy Enlisted Accession Supply Chain (NEASC) to optimize supply chain performance by applying industry standard Supply Chain (SC) principles.
The Navy Supply Chain Council identified the need for the new Navy organization to manage, monitor and report on end-to-end NEASC operations and recommended establishment following extensive corporate benchmarking. The goals established by this council included applying corporate supply chain concepts to Navy Enlisted Accessions to:
- Provide real-time inventory visibility across the entire Supply Chain
- Focus on meeting customer expectations
- Establish corporate-level key performance metrics
- Identify benchmarks to manage pipeline variation
- Manage Reclassifications to meet Navy FIT and Community Health
The PMO organization was officially established on 24 January 2008 reporting directly to OPNAV N1B and was later organizationally realigned and operates today as a major function of the Bureau of Naval Personnel (BUPERS).
