What do we do?

Shore Station/SYSCOM Placement has purview to over 500 commands and 4000 billets including NAVAIR, NAVSEA, SPAWAR and all Naval Stations.  Manned by two Placement Officers, divisions of responsibility are based loosely upon aviation and surface competencies though there is some blurring of lines. 

As Placement Officers, our concerns center around the needs of the command and not the needs/desires/career progression of the service member.  In other words, we own "billets" and not "bodies".   So who should you contact in an effort to discuss follow-on orders? While Placement Officers can provide knowledge and background information on open billets, ultimately it is your detailer with whom you must negotiate your next set of orders and it is with them that you always start.
