Navy Personnel Command > Officer > Officer Detailing > Pers-42 Submarine > FAQs and Answers > What is the Overseas screening and reporting process?

Overseas Screening Requirement Notifications will be sent via official message traffic during the order writing process. Commands are given 30 days (60 with dependents) from receipt of the message to complete and report suitability status on BUPERS Online (BOL).

The member’s command shall provide a NAVMED 1300/2, medical, dental and educational suitability screening checklist and worksheet. The member and their dependents should immediately contact the suitability screening coordinator at the local military treatment facility to schedule the require portion of the suitability screening for the member and dependents.

If the member does not complete and submit all required documentation within 60 days (30 days with no dependents) of receipt of the message, the member’s overseas orders may be cancelled and the member’s detailing will be subject to the needs of the Navy, with no further negotiation.
