Q: Will my designator change after I lose my nuclear AQDs?
A: No, the methods to change designator are selection for lateral transfer; transition to the reserves or conversion to Full Time Support (FTS)
Q: Will I promote to O-5?
A: It is very unlikely for an 1120 to promote to O5 without completing an XO afloat tour or completing an XO equivalent billet.
Q: Will I promote to O-4?
A: Successful completion of a DH tour, recommendation for promotion to LCDR and recommendation for the next career milestone are normally sufficient for promotion to O-4.
Q: What billets can I fill? Are there specific billets for XONC officers?
A: There are no specific billets for XONC officers. All available billets are listed on the post-DH shore slate.
Q: Can I retire as an O4?
A: Yes, if you have completed 20 years of active service, you may retire. If you fail to select for O-5 twice and have less than 20 YOAS, then you will go to a continuation board.
