Welcome to the LT/LTJG  Shore & Overseas Detailer’s Home Page!

LT SHORE-OVERSEAS BILLETS 13JAN17.pdf

CAN WE CONTACT YOU?  PLEASE EMAIL ME YOUR CURRENT CONTACT INFORMATION (PERSONAL AND WORK EMAIL/TELEPHONE).

BILLET LIST
The first qualified officer "in their detailing window" who requests a job and is committed to serving in that billet will be selected; however, some commands require screening and approval. Your billet selection or preferences must align with your PRD (-1/+3 months).

THE DETAILING PROCESS
For many of you, this will be your first detailing experience since graduation from NSCS.  If coming from an overseas assignment, you should contact me within 10 months of your PRD.   If coming from a CONUS assignment, you should contact me within 8 months of your PRD.  Ideally, we should finalize your orders 4-6 months prior to your EDD.  You must clear the GSA Detailer prior to negotiating Shore Duty orders.  Please review the GSA website and contact the GSA detailer prior to contacting me.  If you select a GSA, you are entitled to a bundle follow-on detail.  This means you can negotiate your follow-on assignment as soon as you select your GSA.

Note. Your transfer will depend on:  completion of a minimum 24-30 month operational tour, achievement of a warfare qualification, COC approval if rotating earlier than PRD, and a proper relief.

SECOND OP TOUR LTs not attending Post Graduate School should first contact the LCDR Shore detailer.

OVERSEAS TOURS
Most will complete an overseas tour at least once in their career.  These tours offer exceptional personal and professional development opportunities.  There is a wide range of billets and locations available.  Completing this milestone early in your career is often more ideal.  If you have not yet been stationed overseas, and you are waiting for a department head ride, this is your most likely detail.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Selection boards are held in April and October.  If you are interested in an internship, you are strongly encouraged to submit a package 12 months prior to your PRD.  Selections are made based on an officer’s sustained superior performance and billet availability.  Billets will be offered to selected officers based on board ranking and PRD, so be aware of all the locations for your preferred program(s) as you could be assigned to any location.  GSA candidates are encouraged to submit a package, even though you may serve your GSA before the internship.  Normally, NACO interns will do their GSA after their required internship training.  Warfare qualification is not a prerequisite for submitting your package; however, you must obtain it before you detach as it is vital to career progression!  Note: At completion of an internship officers must agree to remain on active duty for an additional 12 months or greater.

Your package must be received no later than the specified deadline for each board and contain the following:

NOTE: REMOVE PII (i.e., SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, LAST FOUR OF SSN, DATE OF BIRTH, etc.) FROM ALL DOCUMENTS PRIOR TO SUBMISSION.  DOCUMENTS SHOULD BE SUBMITTED IN ONE PDF IN THE ORDER LISTED BELOW.

  1. Endorsement letter from Commanding Officer
  2. Additional endorsement letters (optional)
  3. Warfare qualification letter (by time you transfer)
  4. All Previous Fitness Reports
  5. Any career information not yet posted to ODC/OSR/PSR
  6. College transcripts (ensure transcripts are legible)

If you have submitted an internship package and would like to know if we have received it or have any other questions, please contact the Internship Coordinator.

For package format, please use Naval Supply Systems Command Supply Corps Internship Program (NAVSUPINST 1520.5 dated 31 October 2012) at:or package format, please use Naval Supply Systems Command Supply Corps Internship Program (NAVSUPINST 1520.5 dated 31 October 2012) at:

You are not limited to three internship program preferences (i.e. ILS, NACO, OPLOG-POL), feel free to apply to all programs that interest you.  Note: all correspondence you include in your internship package is used for board purposes only and does not permanently update your official record.

Notification of selection will be via FLASH FROM THE CHIEF.  Billet assignments will be based on a combination of board rankings, CO-LO requirements, Community Interest Lead inputs, and individuals going to GSAs.  You can expect reassignment on or about your PRD.  Manning the fleet takes priority, so you will be rolled to your internship once properly relieved.
