Establishing your Academic Profile Code (APC) is the first step in obtaining orders to NPS. This can be accomplished online via the NPS Admissions website.
Junior War College
Officers attending Navy War College (Junior Course), Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and Air Force Command and Staff College receive a Masters Degree as well as JPME I credit. Officers attending the Army Command and General Staff College receive JPME I credit only.
PERS-416 targets officers screened for Executive Officer for attending Junior War Colleges. This career timing supports EOD Officers obtaining JPME I prior to assuming command, which is required by policy.

Senior War College
Officers attending Navy War College, Army War College, Marine Corps War College, and Air Force War College receive a Masters Degree as well as JPME II credit. Officers attending a Senior Service school must have completed JPME I and be Senate confirmed for promotion to Commander.
Officers attending National War College and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (ICAF) receive a Masters Degree and Full JPME credit. Officers attending NWC or ICAF must have be Senate confirmed for promotion to Commander, and starting in FY12 must have completed JPME I.

Joint Combined Warfighting School
Officers attending the Joint Combined Warfighting School (JCWS) receive JPME II credit after completion of the 10 week curriculum. PERS-416 is allotted 1 quota per quarter for this school and prioritizes the fill with officers going to a joint comand/JDAL billet.
Pre-requisites for this course is completion of JPME Phase I and promotion to Lieutenant Commander.
