Selected Reserve Community
ECM responsibilities
Are you an Active component (AC) Sailor, within 12 months of EAOS, wondering about Reserve component (RC) opportunities?
Your Career Counselor can assist you with an application to the RC via Perform to Serve (PTS), located in the Fleet RIDE system. If granted a Selected Reserve (SELRES) PTS quota, you must select a drill site from the Career Management System/Interactive Detailing (CMS/ID). During your assignment process you can expect to be contacted by a member of the Career Transition Office (CTO). Their mission is to facilitate your smooth and timely transition into the RC.
Early Career Transition Program (ECTP)
ECTP has been suspended as of 14 March 2013. Please see NAVADMIN 063/13.

Frequently asked questions
Q: How do I apply for a High Year Tenure waiver?
A: Procedures for requesting a waiver are found in MILPERSMAN 1160-120. The High Year Tenure (HYT) program is intended to provide a viable career path for SELRES enlisted personnel, i.e. ensure a dynamic force with appropriate advancement opportunity for enlisted personnel. Waivers are granted based on current and projected SELRES manpower requirements (overall force manning and rate/NEC, unit manning, unique operational requirements). Members disapproved for a waiver may still complete 20 or more qualifying years towards a non-regular reserve retirement in the IRR or VTU. To determine status of a waiver request, you may contact PERS 913.
Q: How do I apply for a rating conversion?
A: Working with your Career Counselor you should review rating specific ASVAB and other requirements found in MILPERSMAN 1306-618. Also review the current SELRES Manning document and apply via instructions found in Chapter 6 of BUPERSINST 1001.39F. Final adjudication rests with PERS 812.
