Call For Linguist Of The Year (
LOY), Language Professional Of The Year (LPOY), And Command Language Program Of The Year (CLPOY) Nominations

Nomination procedures are outlined for command language program in OPNAV Instruction 1650.31 and 1650.32 for language professional and linguist awards.   These can be found under “Governing Policies” on this site and on the Department of the Navy Issuances page:  http://doni.daps.dla.mil/default.aspx

This year's essay topic for LPOY and LOY nominees is:  "Describe a strategy to train and sustain military language professionals in your organization to a proficiency level 3/3 or better."

This essay should be no more than five double-spaced, typewritten pages and should not include references or footnotes.

Deadline to submit nomination packages to OPNAV/N13F is Jan. 16. Packages can be emailed to ALTN_N13F1@navy.mil.  Questions may be directed to CTICM Kenneth Paulsen at (703) 604-5519 or via email at kenneth.paulsen@navy.mil.

Historically, Chief of Naval Personnel has issued a NAVADMIN to announce solicitation for  LOY, LPOY, and CLPOY nominations.  Starting with the call for FY14 LOY, LPOY, CLPOY nominations, no NAVADMIN will be released.  Instead, a related article with updated information on the required essay question and references to the appropriate instructions will be posted on Navy.mil.  In addition, the Navy Language, Regional Expertise, and Culture (LREC) Office (OPNAV/N13F) will to the greatest extent possible promulgate the information on its Navy Personnel Command Webpages, its Facebook page, and through email to LREC stakeholders and CLPMs.
