NAVY-SPONSORED GRADUATE EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR COMMISSIONED OFFICERS

Navy-sponsored graduate education programs are offered to commissioned officers at the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA, and/or at various civilian institutions throughout the country.  At civilian institutions, administration of officer students in matters concerning education is exercised by the Superintendent of the Naval Postgraduate School through the Commanding Officers of NROTC Units.

Information concerning advanced curricular programs is taken from applicable directives, the Catalogue of the Naval Postgraduate School, and from the catalogues of the civilian institutions concerned.  Students may receive undergraduate and/or graduate degrees provided they meet the requirements established by the institutions conducting the instruction.  Information concerning student progress and graduation reports is submitted to the Chief of Naval Personnel (PERS-312G1) by the Superintendent of the Naval Postgraduate School.

Naval Postgraduate School (NPS)

Provides an outstanding opportunity to complete a graduate degree in variety of technical and non-technical programs. All interested applicants should explore the NPS website to collect information on various curriculums. After an interested officer obtains their detailer's approval, applicants must complete the application process through the NPS Website: www.nps.edu.

All interested applicants should contact their detailer prior to applying or starting correspondence with NPS.  All NPS curriculums are assigned by OPNAV through quotas to every community based on needs of the Navy.  As a result, a potential student's desired curriculum may not be assigned  that officer's  community and therefore not available.

Acceptance into a curriculum by an academic department at NPS does not constitue potential assignment to NPS nor is that acceptance binding.  Officers are reminded that detailers must approve all proposals to NPS and that ALL assignment communications and negiotiations must come from the Naval Personnel Command (NPC) and not from the member directly.

Computing your Academic Profile Code (APC)
A completed application is required in order for NPS to begin calculating an APC. If you do not have a computed APC or you wish to have it changed contact the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey: (831) 656-3093/DSN 756 or email at admissions@nps.edu
.  APC Waivers must be requested by NPC.
