COMMANDING OFFICER: COMMANDER ANTHONY GUTIERREZ
Born in Dorchester, MA, Commander Gutierrez graduated from Bridgewater State College, Bridgewater
Massachusetts with a Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Science 1991.
He graduated from Aviation Officer Candidate School, in May 1995. After completing flight training he was
assigned to VP-10, The Red Lancers, at Naval Air Station Brunswick, ME.
Operational tours include assignments with VP-10, the “Stingrays” of VT-35, VR-52 “Taskmasters” and
currently, The VR-58 “Sunseekers” in Jacksonville, FL. Commander Gutierrez served in a variety of positions,
including Operations Officer, Administrative Officer, Training Officer and Detachment Officer in Charge.
Commander Gutierrez has accumulated over 4400 mishap free flight hours in Naval aircraft and is a First
Officer on the Boeing 777 with FedEx Express. His personal awards include the Air Medal, earned while
flying over 22 combat missions during Operation Noble Anvil, the Navy Commendation Medal, two Navy
and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, three NATO medals as well as various unit, campaign and service
In February 2012, he reported as the Prospective Executive Officer of the VR-58 “Sunseekers”, to assume
the position of Executive Officer in October 2012. He assumed command of VR-58 in January 2014.
