Command Master Chief Walter D. Bell

 

 CMDCM Walter D. Bell

  Command Master Chief Walter D. Bell was born in Pembroke, Kentucky and entered the Navy in May 1992.  After completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois he attended MM “A” School at Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois.

Upon graduation, he reported to USS KEARSARGE (LHD-3), Norfolk, VA in Jan 1993.  Follow on tours include USS IWO JIMA (LHD-7), where he was selected as the 2003 Engineering Sailor of the Year.  In May of 2004, he reported to EWTGLANT, Virginia Beach, VA where he was selected for the rank of Chief Petty Officer  in 2005.  In June 2007, he reported to USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN-69) Norfolk, VA.  It was during this tour that he led two highly successful six month deployments in 2009 and 2010.  In June 2010, he transferred and reported to Navy Recruiting Orientation Unit (NORU) where he was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer in July 2010.  In August 2010, he reported to Navy Recruiting District OHIO, where he served as an Officer Recruiter.  It was during this tour, he was selected as NRD OHIO’s Active Officer Recruiter of the Year for FY 2012, LEADS Officer Recruiter of the Year for FY 2012, and Nuclear Officer Recruiter of the year for FY2013.  In May 2013, he was promoted to Master Chief Petty Officer.  In September 2013, he reported to USS OSCAR AUSTIN (DDG-79) as the 3M Coordinator till November 2015.  Master Chief Bell reported to (VFA-15) in December 2015 where he currently serves as the Command Master Chieff.

Master Chief Bell is a graduate of the CMC/COB Course (Class 151) and the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 191/Orange Group).  He has earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare, Aviation Warfare, and Master Training Specialist designations.  He holds an Associate’s Degree in Applied Marine Engineering and Vocational Technical Education from Coastline Community College.

His decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (7 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.  Master Chief Bell is married to former Chenika Jones of Louisville, Kentucky and they have a 17 year old daughter, Aziah.
