Biographies

Master Chief Petty Officer Barbrey is a native of Simpsonville, South Carolina.  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1984.  Upon completion of Basic Training he attended Yeoman “A” School at NTC Meridian, MS, he reported to Patrol Squadron Master Augment Unit in Brunswick, ME.  During his tour he changed rating to Aviation Electrician’s Mate and was accepted into the P-3 Flight Engineer Program.

Master Chief Barbrey’s Aircrew assignments include Patrol Squadron Master Augment Unit, offett Field CA, VP-66, ASW Training Center, CNARF NATOPS Evaluator, VQ-11, COMRESPATWING and VP-94.  He has also been assigned as the Maintenance Senior/Master Chief in HCS-4 and HM-14. 

After acceptance into the Command Master Chief Program, he was assigned to HM-15.  He has also served CMC assignments in VAQ-209 and United States Fleet Forces Command. He is currently assigned as the CMC for the RED RIPPERS of VFA-11.

He is a graduate of SEA Class 109 (Brown), CMC/COB Class 64 and the Joint Special Operations Senior Enlisted Course.

His personal decorations include: Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Naval Aircrew Wings, Navy Commendation Medal (Sixth Award), Navy Achievement Medal (Fifth Award), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (Second Award) and several campaign and service ribbons.
