CDR Martin Weyenberg
CDR Martin Weyenberg is a native of Little Rock, Arkansas and received his commission through Officer Candidate School (OCS) in 1998. He was designated a Naval Aviator in 1998.
Commander Weyenberg's fleet assignments include Commanding Officer of the Jolly Rogers of Strike Fighter Squadron 103 aboard USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN 75), Commanding Officer of the Blue Blasters of VFA 34, aboard USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73), Strike Fighter Squadron 136 aboard USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65) and USS JOHN F. KENNEDY (CVN 67) and Strike Fighter Squadron 81 aboard USS NIMITZ (CVN 68). His deployments include activities in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, NEW DAWN, INHERENT RESOLVE and Western Pacific operations.
He was a Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) instructor, as well as a graduate of the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island where he earned a Master of Arts Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies. His most recent shore duty assignment was to USSOCOM's Interagency Task Force (IATF) where he was assigned to the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC where he worked U.S. whole-of-government counterterrorism policy, strategy and plans.
CDR Weyenberg has been awarded two Meritorious Service Medals, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, three Air Medal Strike/Flight Medals, three Navy Commendation Medals, a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, a Battle “E” award, and numerous campaign and unit citations. He has accumulated over 500 arrested landings and over 2800 flight hours.
